TV Overnights: BBC One’s new The Deep wins peak slot

BBC One secured the peak slot of 9pm to 10pm, with its new thriller The Deep managing to attract almost 5 million viewers and a share of 21.9%.

ITV came in second with long-running police drama The Bill, which achieved an average audience of 2.6 million viewers, and a share of 11.6%.

Meanwhile, Five’s CSI: Miami managed to attract 2.2 million viewers and a 9.8% share – slightly up on last week’s 2.1 million viewers and 9.7% share. Channel 4’s Who Knows Best: Can’t Sleep Kids secured 1.8 million viewers, and a 8% share.

BBC Two’s That Mitchell and Webb Look, airing at 9pm, achieved an average audience of 1.3 million and a 5.8% share. Shooting Stars, starting at 9.30pm, managed 1.3 million and a 5.6% share.

Earlier in the evening, BBC One’s Holby City won the 8pm to 9pm slot, attracting 5.1 million viewers and gaining a 23.2% share. Eastenders also won its slot, airing from 7.30pm to 8pm and securing 8.2 million viewers and a 39.6% share.

Emmerdale, starting at 7pm, managed to achieve an audience of just under 6 million viewers, and an average share of 31.9%.

BBC One dominated most of the morning schedule, with ITV and BBC Two taking over in the afternoon, as usual.
