TV Overnights: ITV1 England match scores 7 million viewers

ITV1’s football coverage of England against Hungary managed to secure top ratings from 7.30pm to 10pm last night.

The friendly fixture, which took place at Wembley Stadium, attracted an average audience of 5.8 million viewers and a 26.1%. It peaked at 9.30pm, with just over 7 million viewers watching, and a share of 29.5%.

BBC One provided competition with The Secret Tourist, showing from 9pm to 10pm. The documentary secured just over 3 million viewers on average, and a 13% share. This is slightly down on last week’s 3.4 million and 15.1% share.

Meanwhile, BBC Two’s The Normans achieved 2.4 viewers and a 10.3% share, while Channel Four’s Four Sons Versus Four Daughters managed 1.8 million viewers and a 7.5% share.

Five’s NCIS attracted an audience of 1.3 million, and gained a share of 5.5%.

ITV1’s Emmerdale, showing from 7pm to 7.30pm, won its slot with 5.9 million viewers and a 31.9% share.

BBC One achieved the top ratings for the morning television schedule, as usual.

BBC2 won the most slots in the 3pm to 5pm afternoon period, with programmes including Diagnosis Murder (799,000 viewers and 11.3% share) and Flog It! (1.2 million viewers and 15% share)
