TV Overnights: The Bill finale wins the peak slot with over 4.3 million viewers

ITV1’s long-running series The Bill finished last night, with the second episode of a two-part finale.

The police drama won the peak slot of 9pm to 10pm, with over 4.3 million viewers and an 18.8% share – a significant increase on last week’s 3.3 million viewers and 14.2% share.

This was despite competition from BBC One’s finale episode of The Deep, which attracted an audience of 3.7 million and gained a share of 16.3% – also up on last week’s 3.2 million viewers and 13.6% share.

Elsewhere, Five’s CSI: Miami secured just under 2 million viewers and a 6.6% share, while Channel 4’s new The Hunt For Britain’s Sex Traffickers attracted 1.9 million viewers and an 8.3% share.

BBC Two’s Zimbabwe’s Forgotten Children managed an audience of just over 1 million, and a share of 4.8%.

Earlier in the evening, BBC One’s Holby City won the 8pm to 9pm slot, with an audience of 5.7 million viewers and a share of 25.2%.

ITV1’s Emmerdale won its 7pm to 7.30pm slot with just under 6 million viewers and a 32.5% share, while BBC One’s Eastenders won its 7.30pm to 8pm slot with 7.9 million viewers and a 39% share.

BBC One consistently achieved the highest ratings during the morning as usual, with BBC Two taking over in the late afternoon.
