BSkyB Pulls Carlton Select Ads
A row has broken out between BSkyB and Carlton Select over the ad campaign being used by the Carlton cable channel.
According to Janet Goldsmith, Carlton Select’s managing director, BSkyB withdrew the adverts from thirteen Sky channels because the campaign focused on the fact that Carlton Select is a cable-exclusive channel and was therefore a competitor to BSkyB’s satellite services.
The ads were pulled on Monday afternoon and began broadcasting again yesterday only after Carlton hinted that it may take the dispute to the Independent Television Commission. Ms Goldsmith is now expecting BSkyB to compensate for the ads which were lost and she said that if this is not forthcoming then redress would be sought from the ITC.
BSkyB was not available for comment.
