New Magazines Planning To Launch
Both VNU and Ziff-Davis are planning to launch computer and new media titles before the end of the year.
VNU’s new title is rumoured to be a UK version of Internet Life, an American title published by Mecklermedia, which will launch on 3 October. It will be bound to 165,000 copies of PCW before a stand-alone copy is released in December costing £2.95. The new title from Ziff-Davis will be Computer Gaming World, a monthly new media magazine aimed at an adult readership.
…Emap Media will also be launching a new title. Total Publishing will launch next June and will be aimed at people who make spending decisions on editorial equipment and services.
…A new magazine for women’s football, called ElleFC, is apparently under threat of legal action to change its name by Elle publisher Emap Elan. Moondance Publications planned to launch the magazine in October with a 17,000 print-run though these plans have now been put on hold.
…Style Publishing has just launched Hair Now, a bi-monthly consumer magazine aimed at 14-34 year-old females. It costs £1.80 and focuses on hair-styles and hair-dressers.
