C4 Promises Distinctive Schedule
Channel 4 believes that its new autumn schedule promises to serve tastes and interests not provided for by ITV.
The Big Breakfast undergoes a revamp and new look which begins this week, while film premieres include the Oscar-winning The Madness Of King George and Backbeat. In peaktime, Nothing But The Truth is a courtroom format which will debate real moral dilemmas, with skilled advocates cross-examining individuals at the centre of real-life cases. Another new offering will be Wanted which will allow contestants to go ‘missing’ for weeks in order for ‘trackers’ to hunt them down with the help of former KGB spy Oleg Gordievsky.
Eurotrash, TFI Friday and Rory Bremner – Who Else will also return for new series. Arts programmes will include the new format Book Choice, coverage of the Turner Prize and also a long-term series observing the four-year development of the Tate’s new Bankside gallery. More mainstream programmes include Brookside, and new series of Hollyoaks and Drop The Dead Donkey.
