Videotron, a UK cable provider, said notice was given to NBC in July stating that it would stop carrying the Superchannel from October 1. According to Videotron, research has indicated a decline in NBC’s audience in a period where potentially more appealing channels can be transmitted in its place.
Videotron also confirmed that NBC has asked the courts *(GSkyB Launch Will Go Ahead As Planned) to force the cable provider to continue transmitting the channel until 31st March 1997.
The court hearing will take place near the end of the month.
