TV Overnights: Over 9.4m tune in to I’m a Celeb

ITV1’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! secured the all-important peak-hour ratings once again last night with a high of 9.4 million viewers.

The hour-long update from the jungle attracted an average audience of more than 8.9 million viewers and a 34% share for ITV1 between 9pm and 10pm, easily seeing off competition from rival terrestrial channels during the post-watershed slot.

On BBC One, 3.3 million average viewers tuned in to see Accused, the channel’s new army drama starring Mackenzie Crook.  The second episode secured a 12.8% average audience share during the peak-hour slot.

Next in line, Channel 4’s penultimate Coppers pulled in 1.8 million average viewers and a 6.9% share, while BBC Two’s Giles and Sue Live The Good Life came close behind with 1.7 million viewers and a 6.6% share.

The fourth episode of Channel 5’s Extreme Fishing with Robson Green picked up just 937,000 viewers during the post-9pm slot.

Earlier on in the evening, the majority of viewers were engrossed in the soaps from 7pm onwards.  ITV1 had the most luck in terms of audience share, with Emmerdale pulling in 8.2 million viewers, the first episode of Coronation Street attracting 9.5 million peak viewers and the second winning a 9.2 million high, although BBC One’s Eastenders enjoyed the highest ratings of the night, peaking with almost 9.9 million viewers at 8pm.
