TV Viewing Summary W/E 05/05/96
BBC1’s new Sunday night comedy drama series No Bananas has premiered with a viewing audience of 10.07 million and a consolidated share of 46%. This made it the second most watched programme of Sunday and the joint 17th watched of the week.
Channel 4’s BAFTA award winning comedy Father Ted has managed to consolidate its increase in popularity since it won the award. The episode shown on Friday 3rd of May was watched by 3.47 million viewers; down on last week’s total of 3.83 million but still well inside Channel 4’s top ten programmes.
Programmes doing well in this week’s top thirty programmes list include: Bramwell, which had 9.91 million viewers, BBC1’s new documentary series Airport which got 9.26 million viewers, Cook Report, which was watched by 8.68 million people and Big Break which had an audience of 8.22 million.
Total TV for the week ending 05/05/96 rose by 17.14% when compared to the same week last year. In Astra Panel homes viewing for all channels has also risen, this time by 19.6% in comparison to the same week last year.
