Satellite Dish Ownership Grew By 19,000 In February

According to GfK’s latest dish and cable ownership survey, dish ownership grew by 19,000 in February this year to a total of 3,414,000. This follows a growth of 26,900 in January. This is however a lower rate of growth than February last year, when the number of satellite homes grew by 32,000.

GfK also revealed that satellite dishes are more popular in the Midlands than any other ISBA region in the UK. 17% of satellite homes are located in the Midlands, followed by 15.1% in Lancashire, and 13.5% in Yorkshire.

Households with children are the most likely owners of satellite dishes; they are one and a half times more likely to own a satellite dish than the average UK household. Those with at least two children, one up to age 5 and another aged between 6 and 15, are 77% more likely than the average population to own a satellite dish.

57% of satellite dish owners are C2DEs and 42% are ABC1s. C2s are more likely than any other socio demographic group to own a satellite dish.
