Coronation Street‘s week-long 50th anniversary celebration continued to woo viewers, with last night’s post-tram crash show attracting a peak audience of more than 11.2 million viewers.
Corrie secured a 40.5% average audience share during the 30-minute slot from 8.30pm (down slightly on last night’s 12.8 million peak audience).
ITV1 also managed to hold on to the peak audience in to the post-watershed slot, with the first part of its new documentary Coronation Street: 50 Years, 50 Moments. The hour-long programme, narrated by Victoria Wood, counted down the soap’s best story-lines so far, as voted for by fans. It peaked with more than six million viewers and secured a 21.9% average share between 9pm and 10pm.
At the same time, BBC One’s final Turn Back Time – The High Street picked up 4.1 million average viewers and a 16.6% audience share, while Channel 5’s CSI: Miami pulled in more than two million viewers and a 8.4% share.
Meanwhile, 1.4 million viewers tuned in for the last in the series of BBC Two’s The Foods That Make Billions, and 833,000 watched Channel 4’s The Family.
Earlier on in the evening, two episodes of ITV1’s Emmerdale dominated the pre-Coronation Street ratings, with the exception of the 30-minute slot between 7.30pm and 8pm when BBC One’s Eastenders took the lead. Eastenders peaked with 9.4 million viewers, while Emmerdale secured a high of 8.1 million viewers.
