BBC One banked the peak ratings from 7.30pm onwards last night with Eastenders, Holby City, Crimewatch and BBC News at Ten.
The channel’s prime time line-up started off with Eastenders, which pulled in more than 9.8 million peak viewers and a 41.5% average audience share between 7.30pm and 8pm.
Hospital drama Holby City followed with a high of more than 5.9 million viewers and a 24.7% average share, before Crimewatch dominated the 9pm to 10pm peak-hour ratings with almost five million peak viewers and a 20% share.
Later on, BBC News at Ten secured the peak audience during the post-watershed slot with a high of more than 5.3 million viewers.
Elsewhere, BBC Two’s Pompeii: Life and Death in a Roman Town proved popular among viewers in the all-important 9pm to 10pm peak-hour. The documentary attracted over 3.1 million viewers and a 13.5% share.
Meanwhile, 2.8 million viewers tuned in to see ITV1’s classic police drama A Touch of Frost starring David Jason. The two-hour repeat banked a 12.5% average audience share for ITV1 between 8pm and 10pm.
Over on Channel 5, the ever-popular CSI: Miami pulled in 1.8 million average viewers and a 7.9% share between 9pm and 10pm, while Channel 4’s The Family settled on a low 816,000 viewers and a 3.5% share.
