The Royal Variety Performance easily secured the prime time ratings with a high of more than 9.6 million viewers last night.
BBC One’s coverage of the show pulled in over 8.3 million average viewers and a 33% audience share between 8pm and 10pm.
The channel’s flagship soap Eastenders also attracted a high of more than 8.6 million viewers and a 37.2% share during the early evening 7.30pm and 8pm slot.
Elsewhere, ITV1’s Coronation Street peaked with almost nine million viewers and a 33.2% share, before Celebrity Grime-fighters picked up more than 3.5 million viewers and a 12.2% share during the 9pm to 10pm peak-hour.
At the same time, BBC Two’s At Home with the Georgians secured 1.2 million average viewers and a 5% share, while 5’s popular NCIS banked 1.1 million viewers and a 4.7% share.
Channel 4’s peak-hour ratings were less impressive – The House That Made Me settled on a low 697,000 viewers between 9pm and 10pm, although Million Pound Drop pulled in more than a million viewers during the 8pm to 9pm slot and Jamie’s Christmas Lock-In also picked up 1.1 million peak viewers in the 10pm to 11pm slot.
