Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas!

Newsline would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year. We will be taking a break over the festive season, but will return on 4 January with the sharpest opinion and analysis from our current Media Leaders and many more new faces.

2011 is set to be an interesting year with paywalls potentially changing the newspaper landscape and connected TV making major strides. The CRR debate is likely to continue in to the new year, with some kind of reform expected at last, and – when the thumbs up is given – will we see any new cross-media initiatives as a result of News Corp owning all of BSkyB?

The commercial radio sector will also see some major changes as groups jump on the ‘national network’ bandwagon – syndicating programming and shows to create ‘national’ brands, while retaining a local feel. Look out for the soon-to-be-launched Capital network and a new national Kiss.

And aside from developments in traditional media, mobile and online will continue to grow and offer new and exciting targeting opportunities – while the world continues to connect via social networks. On top of that, there is talk of even more wild and wacky apps, especially now the tablet device has taken hold of the market, thanks in no small part to Apple… just think of the potential.

All of this and much more will be discussed on Newsline and at MediaTel Group events in 2011 – so please continue to get involved.

Best wishes,

Liz Jaques, Editor
