BBC One banked an impressive peak run during prime time last night with its Tuesday night line-up of Eastenders, Holby City and Silent Witness.
The conclusion of the two-part popular crime drama Silent Witness easily topped the peak-hour ratings with more than 6.3 million average viewers and a 24% audience share.
In the pre-watershed slots, Eastenders attracted a high of more than 10.8 million peak viewers and a 42.9% share as the Ronnie and Kat baby saga continued, before 6.3 million viewers tuned in for their latest dose of Holby City.
Viewers also stayed with BBC One later on in the evening – BBC News at Ten banked 5.2 million average viewers, while Motorway Cops picked up 3.1 million viewers.
Elsewhere, ITV1’s 9 o’clock drama Above Suspicion: Deadly Intent pulled in 4.4 million average viewers and a 16.7% share between 9pm and 10pm, while Trevor McDonald’s new documentary The Secret Mediterranean achieved an audience of 3.4 million viewers during the 8pm to 9pm slot.
Meanwhile, BBC Two’s second The Bear Family and Me with wildlife cameraman Gordon Buchanan secured 2.6 million viewers and a 10% share during the 9pm to 10pm peak-hour, while Channel 5’s CSI:NY settled on a low 794,000 viewers.
Channel 4 mixed up its peak-hour schedule, airing Chris Evans’ latest offering Famous and Fearless between 8pm and 9.35pm (to an audience of 1.4 million average viewers) and the new David Walliams’ Awfully Good between 9.35pm and 11.40pm (1.3 million viewers).
