Kidnap and Ransom

ITV1’s new three-part mini thriller series Kidnap and Ransom started on a high of 6.1 million viewers last night.

The peak-hour drama with Trevor Eve and Emma Fielding achieved an average audience of 5.4 million viewers and a 22% share during the 9pm to 10pm slot.

However, it was not the only peak-hour programme to win the top ratings. BBC One’s popular comedy Come Fly with Me peaked with 6.1 million viewers between 9.15pm and 9.30pm (an average audience of 5.9 million viewers tuned in for the full 30-minute show).

Meanwhile, the second episode of Not Going Out, which filled the second half of BBC One’s peak-hour schedule, pulled in a lower 4.1 million average viewers and a 17.4% share.

On Channel 4, the final Hugh’s Big Fish Fight picked up a decent 2.1 million viewers and a 8.9% average share between 9pm and 10pm, before the all-new Shameless continued with 2.5 million viewers and a 13.7% share in the 10pm to 11.10pm slot.

At the same time, BBC Two’s new series Men of Rock and The Great Outdoors both achieved an average audience of more than a million viewers.

Channel 5’s 9 o’clock film The Bone Collector starring Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie also banked more than one million average viewers.

Earlier on in the evening, the soaps dominated the pre-watershed slots. BBC One’s Eastenders claimed the highest ratings of the night with almost 10 million peak viewers.
