RAJAR Q4 2010: London Stations

Magic 105.4 held on to the top spot in London following a positive YoY increase in weekly reach (although it did see its reach fall 4.6% QoQ).

95.8 Capital FM, meanwhile, remains number two in the Capital despite also seeing a QoQ drop in reach.

However, Kiss 100 FM was the real success story in Q4 – posting both quarterly and yearly increases to put it in to the top three for the first time.

Meanwhile, the global-owned Heart 106.2 FM dropped to fourth place in the London listings after a disappointing quarter. The station posted a substantial loss in its weekly reach – down 14.1% QoQ.

However, the biggest loss was seen by Absolute Radio – Total Absolute Radio (London) and Absolute Radio London posted their lowest reach and share figures since moving to quarterly reporting in March 2009.

A few London stations have a reason to celebrate this release – aside from Kiss, LBC 97.3 also enjoyed both quarterly and yearly increases in its reach, while Choice FM posted a decent QoQ rise and Gold London saw a significant YoY percentage increase.

In terms of share of listening, Magic continues to take the highest share, while Kiss has jumped up to claim the second spot. Heart 106.2 FM and LBC 97.3 both tie in third place with an equal 4.6%, while 95.8 Capital FM sits in fifth place with a slightly lower 4.5% share.

It is a completely different story with average hours per listener. Premier Christian Radio, Colourful and LBC 97.3 claim the top three slots respectively, despite seeing the average time people tune in for decline over the year (and quarter). In fourth place, Sunrise Radio (Greater London), meanwhile, saw its listeners staying with the station for much longer than last quarter (and last year).
