Football has made its presence felt in this week’s viewing summary, with three top matches being screened. First up on Sky Sports on Monday there was the top of the table clash between the Uniteds of Manchester and Newcastle which was watched by 2.6m, and achieved an individuals TVR of 18.9; this is the second highest audience ever for Sky Sport behind the Bruno vs McCall boxing match in September.
Then on Tuesday BBC1 screened the first leg of the UEFA Cup quarter final match between Nottingham Forest and Bayern Munich which managed to attract an audience of 7.7 million and a consolidated share of the viewing of 33%. ITV’s European Champions Cup quarter final match between Juventus and Real Madrid proved slightly less popular; it was watched by 6.5 million with a 30% share of viewing. The programme which benefited from the lack of interest in ITV’s european match was Here and Now which was watched by 9.1 million people.
Total television viewing for the week has fallen by 1.3% when compared to the same week last year.
