Ant & Dec’s Push the Button game show debuted with almost 5.7 million viewers during ITV1’s Saturday night line-up.

The new eight-part show, which sees two families undertaking a series of games and challenges in an attempt to win a £100,000 cash prize, secured the top ratings with 5.4 million average viewers and a 23.3% audience share between 7.20pm and 8.35pm.

However, BBC One stepped in to claim the peak audience from 8.30pm onwards with Casualty and the final Come Fly with Me. The hospital drama peaked with 6.5 million viewers at 8.50pm, while Come Fly with Me banked 3.4 million viewers. At 10.45pm, Match of the Day scored a high of 5.1 million viewers.

BBC One also dominated the daytime ratings with its Six National Rugby Union coverage. England’s win attracted a high of more than 4.7 million viewers during the early-afternoon slot, while the Scotland v Wales game pulled in over 5 million peak viewers from 4.35pm onwards.

On Sunday, the ratings followed a similar pattern. BBC One enjoyed the peak ratings throughout the day, with 5.3 million viewers tuning in for the Ireland v France Live Six Nations game. BBC One also banked the top spot from 10pm onwards with the British Academy Film Awards, which peaked with 5.8 million viewers.

However, ITV1 secured the Sunday night prime time ratings with Dancing on Ice and Wild at Heart. Dancing on Ice achieved an average audience of 8.1 million viewers and a 29.9% audience share between 6.35pm and 8.30pm (peaking with 8.7 million at 8pm).

Wild at Heart followed with 6.8 million average viewers and a 24.1% share, before Dancing on Ice:The Skate Off picked up 6.7 million viewers and a 25.5% share during the 9.30pm to 10pm slot.
