Talk Radio Replaces “Million Dollar Mouth”
Jonathan King’s bid to become the highest paid radio presenter in Britain has failed. He negotiated a million dollar deal with Talk Radio UK back in October whereby if he attracted a million new listeners to the station he would receive the million dollars.
If his morning show (1000 to 1200) had managed to increase its audience from 200,000 to 1m listeners it would have taken Talk Radio’s audience figures to over 3 million. However, the latest Rajar figures just out show Talk Radio’s audience at just under 2 million. Jonathan King is to leave Talk Radio at Easter; Scott Chisholm, drive time presenter is moving to present the mid- morning show; Peter Deeley joins from London News Radio to present the drive time show.
Simon Bates is also to be replaced with Paul Ross, Jonathan Ross’s brother, who has presented the Big Breakfast and Crime Monthly. Simon Bates is “in discussion” with the station about his future role.
