Reed Elsevier Success
Reed Elsevier yesterday announced the first set of results since their merger – there was a 24% increase in pre-tax profits.
Currency movements favoured the first half figures, which rose from £227m to £281m before tax.
Professional publishing showed a 30% profit rise to £60m, and the consumer division was up 23% to £54m with a good performance from IPC magazines. The business division contributed £105m, up 13%. Medical publishing, however, suffered a 50% drop in profit. Profits of up to £445m for the full year are forecast.
