Loaded Ad Complaint Upheld
The Advertising Standards Authority has upheld a complaint made against a Max Power ad which said “W..K MAG? You should see the kits in this!” The ad ran in an issue of Loaded and though the expletive was obscured the complainant thought the ad offensive. The complaint was upheld and the advertisers said the ad would not run again. They did not explain why the word had been used.
…Complaints were also received regarding a poster for radio station Galaxy 101. One showed a pierced nipple and another a condom which went to make up the figures 101. The complainants found these offensive though the advertiser said that the aim was to attract a young audience using modern youth icons. The ASA accepted that the posters would be unlikely to cause serious widespread offence.
