According to a report in today’s Independent media group Pearson is planning a major restructure in the New Year.
It is believed the move has been prompted by the appointment of Marjorie Scardino as chief executive who takes over the running of the company in January * Twivy Issues Writ Against Dorlands. The company’s businesses, which range from TV companies to tourist attractions such as Madame Tussauds, are believed by many in the City to be too diverse and widespread. The future of the group’s TV interests Thames TV and Grundy Worldwide are thought to be under special consideration.
The market reacted favourably to the reports, with Pearson’s shareprice rising 12.5p to 719p at 1pm.
