EMAP Vote To Remove Directors

EMAP has settled its long-running boardroom dispute following the removal of two of its directors, Joe Cooke and Ken Simmonds, who were voted off the board by a majority of three to one. The decision was taken by Chairman Sir John Hoskyns and chief executive Robin Miller following a breakdown of relations between the board and the two men.

Both Mr Simmonds and Mr Cooke made statements to the shareholders listing their objections to developments taking place within the company, with Mr Simmonds saying: “It is a dangerous step to remove minority opinions. You should encourage such views.”

Sir John Hoskyns revealed that the vacancies left by the two directors are not likely to be filled, although EMAP were in the process of recruiting replacements for himself and deputy chairman Richard Winfrey.

The resolution of the dispute helped EMAP shares to rise to 735p by close of trading, up 5p on the previous day.
