ABC And Telegraph Reach Agreement
ABC announced this afternoon that it will now be accepting subscription-sale copies of the Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph as “full price” sales.
The row between ABC and the Telegraph first occurred on December 13 when the paper’s latest ABC figures were excluded because some had been sold on a subscription basis. Writs were issued by the Telegraph against ABC and it appears the Bureaux has now backed down. The Telegraph titles have now resubmitted their returns and the subscription copies are being included in the “full price” category.
Publishers who want their subscription copies to be included in the “full price” category are now being invited to resubmit their returns . ABC will consider these and if necessary the recent figures will be reissued.
The Telegraph has said that it is now dropping all legal action and ABC has said that it has proposed a review of the auditing rules for the national press.
Subscribers can access the latest ABC and NRS figures in Newsline’s Features section.
