Christian: “YouTube is the only way I get to watch anything good”

Christian at Youth, Media and Technology 2011

MediaTel Group hosted its first ever Youth, Media & Technology event in association with Channel 4 yesterday. The first (teenage) panel unveiled some interesting insights about how young people engage with and consume media. There were lots of questions from the floor in what was a lively debate around technology, brands and advertising. Here is a snapshot of what was said…

Meet Christian

He is 14, a keen and experienced gamer, and lives in Chertsey.

“I couldn’t live without my laptop and Gameboy.”

“I have an LG phone… it does what it needs to do but all my friends all have Blackberry.”

“I only check Facebook once a month for major updates.”

“YouTube is the only way I get to watch anything good.”

“I read The Sun because my Dad buys it every day.”

“I spend around six hours a day playing computer games – I like handheld consoles the best, and playing on my laptop.”

“I would play games on my mobile if they were good enough.”

“With adverts, there are occasional gems in the pile of dung.”

“I wouldn’t mind seeing ads during the load time on video games – but I would hate to see branding or ads during games, it would be very distracting.”
