Evie: “I am always listening to music on the radio”

Evie at Youth, Media and Technology 2011

MediaTel Group hosted its first ever Youth, Media & Technology event in association with Channel 4 yesterday. The first (teenage) panel unveiled some interesting insights about how young people engage with and consume media. There were lots of questions from the floor in what was a lively debate around technology, brands and advertising. Here is a snapshot of what was said…

Meet Evie

She has just turned 15. She is from West London, attends a girls school and enjoys music and dance.

“I’d rather give up my TV than my mobile phone and hair straighteners.”

“My friends are starting to use Twitter.”

“I use Facebook on my phone and whenever I am at home (and while I watch TV).”

“I prefer to shop in-store, rather than online. I like to be able to try things on.”

“I get my news from the radio but my friends read the Metro on the way to school.”

“I get Elle monthly – my mum pays for the subscription… she reads it too.”

“I am always listening to music on the radio – I use iTunes too and go on YouTube to watch videos.”

“I don’t watch much TV, apart from Waterloo Road because people talk about it at school. I do record things on Sky+ sometimes but I don’t use iPlayer.”

“I think ads on TV and public transport are best. I don’t like online ads.”

“I like having music channels like MTV on in the background.”
