Channel 5 Appoints Marketing Team And Chooses Sales Systems

Channel 5 Broadcasting have appointed Michaelides & Bednash as part of its core marketing team. The agency will be researching strategic programming and brand issues as part of a team of companies and individuals being formed by David Brook, C5B’s Director of Marketing and Communications. The team will also include media brand consultant Simon Jameson. Michaelides & Bednash’s other clients include Tango, The Automobile Association and Martini.

C5B will also be adopting a two stage approach to the use of computerised airtime sales systems for its launch and future transmission requirements. The CCA Oasis system will be used during the channel’s first 18 months and the TSMS Sundial system thereafter.

Commenting on the plan Nick Milligan, sales director at C5B, said: “This decision has been taken to ensure that Channel 5 hits the ground running and can concentrate on selling from a base of a familiar system. The majority of my team have worked with Oasis and were instrumental in its design. We see future advantages, however, in the Sundial system and believe that this arrangement provides us with the best of both worlds in the short and longer term.”
