Yentob Becomes BBC Director

Alan Yentob, controller of BBC1, has been appointed director of programmes at the corporation as part of last week’s reorganisation (Newsline 04/06). It is widely believed that Michael Jackson, controller of BBC2, will replace him. Also as part of the shake-up Matthew Bannister becomes overall director of radio as well as his current position of controller of Radio 1. The position of director of television is still vacant but is expected to be filled soon.
