The ITC will be inviting applications for a single licence to provide a teletext service for Channel 5, the new terrestrial channel due to launch in January. Applicants will be free to propose any mix of open access or closed subscription use. The service is, however, subject to a relevant part of the Broadcasting Bill which will apply consumer protection requirements to such a service coming into force.
