Pearson To Sell Off Westminster Press

Media group Pearson has announced that it is seeking buyers for Westminster Press, its regional press company.

Pearson say that the move is part of its overall strategy of concentrating resources on information, education and entertainment markets. It is believed by analysts that the regional outfit could raise around £300 million. Pearson would not reveal which companies it had approached as possible buyers.

Westminster Press is one of the UK’s largest regional newspaper groups, publishing over 60 titles with a combined circulation approaching 2.4m. Its titles include The Northern Echo, Yorkshire Evening Press and the Oxford Times.
