Government Intervenes In ITV News Competition
The Department of National Heritage has written to ITV companies enquiring how they will ensure fair competition if BSkyB bids for the contract to provide news on the ITV network.
ITV news is currently provided by Independent Television News in a contract worth £57m-a-year. Some ITV companies, notably HTV, have expressed a willingness to consider competition from a second news source.
