ITV1’s Scott & Bailey banked the all-important 9pm to 10pm prime time ratings last night, peaking with 4.8 million viewers.
The fourth episode of the new drama, starring Lesley Sharp and Suranne Jones, secured over 4.6 million average viewers and a 18.6% share during the hour-long slot, ahead of BBC One’s Case Histories, which attracted 3.9 million viewers and a 15.8% share.
ITV1’s The Royal and Midsomer Murders were also a popular choice among viewers in the Sunday evening slot, after BBC Two’s Athletics coverage dominated the afternoon ratings – peaking with 1.6 million viewers.
However, BBC One has a peak run on Saturday – securing the top ratings for most of the day. BBC Two’s Royal Ascot coverage and ITV1’s James Bond film A View to a Kill managed to steal the limelight during the afternoon Athletics, though only for short periods.
In the evening, Total Wipeout banked 3.7 million peak viewers for BBC One, while the film premiere of Kung Fu Panda attracted a high of 5.5 million viewers.
The National Lottery followed with 5.1 million viewers; while Casualty pulled in 4.9 million and the new Lee Mack’s All Star Cast peaked with 4.4 million viewers.
At the same time, ITV1’s new Saturday night line-up failed to claim the top spot. The new comedy game show Odd One In picked up 3.2 million average viewers, Penn & Teller: Fool Us pulled in 3.6 million viewers, and the 9 o’clock show The Marriage Ref attracted 2.1 million viewers.
