Six Stations Bid For New London Licence

The Radio Authority has announced that six radio stations will be competing for the new radio licence covering south-west London. The applicants to run the licence, which covers the London Boroughs of Kingston-upon-Thames, Sutton and Merton, are:

  • Crown FM (Radio Riverside, David Dimbleby, 0181 940 6668) community information and adult contemporary music
  • Eclipse FM (Eclipse FM Ltd, Tony Carter, 0181 395 3388) classic hits and local information
  • Radio Jackie (Radio Jackie Ltd, Andy Catford, 0181 393 8972) local news and uptempo music
  • Kings Air 107 FM (Kingston & District Wireless Co., Mike Powell, 01483 306156) special interest programming and adult contemporary music
  • Monsoon FM (Imagebuy Ltd, Simon Gall, 0181 209 1425) multi-cultured focus and entertainment-based community service
  • Palace FM (Kingston FM Ltd, David Mason, 0181 614 2400) popular music and local news

The licence should be awarded within the next three months.
