Kiss FM has announced that it will be applying for the East Midland’s radio licence which is being advertised by the Radio Authority (Newsline 26/02). If successful Kiss FM will broadcast to a region that includes Nottingham, Leicester and Derby with a potential audience of 1.5 million adults.
The bid represents a partnership between independently owned Kiss 102 in Manchester and Kiss 100 in London which is part of the EMAP Radio Group. Kiss say that they will broadcast a ‘stylish mix of dance music and essential local information about clubs, films, sport and travel, precisely tailored to the needs of young people across the East Midlands’. A detailed market research programme has been set up to achieve this.
