HTV Invests In Digital Technology
HTV has announced that it will be investing over £3m to develop digital technology in a new regional broadcasting centre. There will be a new digital news centre and regional programme playout facility.
The 11,000 sq ft development will take around six months to complete and it is hoped that the new centre will be on air at the beginning of 1997. Construction costs will be approximately £1m with anticipated equipment costs of £2m. Bristol-based HTV hopes that as well as revitalising regional programming the investment will be the catalyst for a major expansion and upgrading of the whole of the Bristol Television Centre.
It is likely that the new technology will cause job losses.
