Website Of The Week: New-Look Electronic Telegraph
A re-designed Electronic Telegraph was launched today. As reported on Newsline (25/03) new features include an interactive classified advertising section and an archive facility which searches for stories which have appeared on the ET.
Another major change on the site is the design: stories are now centred down the middle of the page with the margins being taken up by links, photographs and adverts. Text is white on a black background and the colour-scheme of the site is blue and yellow.
The advertising section is especially useful – items or services can be searched for under a variety of filters until the desired product is found. Categories include motoring, business-to-business, holidays and appointments.
The site is quick, easy to move around and attractively presented. The design is modern and stylish although it can become a bit cluttered. The only other criticism is that the menu bar and a lot of the graphics are extremely small and can be difficult to read. This is also the case with some of the news stories – those which are not in bold text can be difficult to read.
Overall the revamp has worked well and is sure to add to the site’s growing readership. There are over 210,000 registered users of the site and over 16,000 individuals access roughly 180,000 pages each day.
