Interactive TV Gets Investment Boost

Two Way TV, an interactive TV broadcaster, has secured the financial support of the Ladbroke Group. It is believed the entertainment group will be investing around £20m.

Two Way TV, formed three years ago by former Granada director Bill Andrewes, allows viewers to compete on programmes such as Mastermind and A Question of Sport: possible answers are sent to TV sets and viewers are able to select their choice via a modem.

The system has been tested in Birmingham since October and the technology could be able to support other services such as interactive betting. It is believed Two Way TV needs an extra £50m to enable the service to be broadcast nationally.
