According to reports in today’s trade press, a host of newspaper groups are lining up to buy Westminster Press which was put up for sale last week (Newsline 26/06).
Interested parties are believed to include Newsquest Media Group, Cin Ven, Midland Independent Newspapers, Northcliffe Newspapers and United Provincial Newspapers. Westminster, owned by Pearson and believed to have a price-tag of around £300 million, is one of the UK’s largest regional newspaper groups publishing over 60 titles.
