ITC Supports Channel 5 Plan
The ITC has announced that it will be supporting the move by Channel 5 Broadcasting to use a defunct digital channel in order to reach extra viewers Channel 5 Could Reach More Homes.
The ITC has written to Ian Lang, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, to urge him to agree to the use of channel 35 by Channel 5 when it begins broadcasting in 1997. Channel 35 was originally allocated for use by digital television but it has now been decided that it will not be needed for this purpose: its use by Channel 5 would mean an extra 3.7 million people in the UK would be able to receive an interference-free signal.
