More Contenders To Bid For London Licence
Chris Evans’ Ginger Productions and an anonymous consortium are the latest bidders hoping to run the new London FM licence which will be announced next week.
Ginger Productions was unavailable for comment on its proposed plan for the new station, but it is believed that backers include Michael Caine and George Soros. ‘The Edge’, a working title for the station, will be aimed at 15-24 year olds.
The other bidder is believed to be planning a station called Buzz FM aimed at children (see Newsline 31/05). Buzz FM is being backed by an anonymous group of financial and entertainment companies.
Other contenders which are hoping to run the new licence, made available on Melody Radio’s old frequency, include Capital Gold, GWR, Time Out, Saga, Choice FM and XFM.
