MAI And Warner Bros. In New Theme Park Venture
MAI and Warner Brothers announced this morning that they will launch a joint project worth £225 million to build a theme park and film and television studios in the London Borough of Hillingdon. It will be called Movie World.
The location, a 150 acre site on the A40 near to the M40/M25 interchange and next to Hillingdon Underground station, was identified from more than 150 potential sites throughout South East England. The proposals for the film and TV studios element envisage more than 5,000 sq. m. of state-of-the-art production facilities for use by Warner Bros, MAI and other companies. A new company, Warner Bros.- MAI Film Productions, will provide development funding and production skills at the new studios.
The theme park will be open seasonally, offering themed dark rides, live stage shows, family adventure rides and a host of attractions. Most of these will be based on films and television programmes.
It is hoped the project will open in 1999.
