Rajar Figures Delayed

Rajar Figures Delayed

Following Rajar’s confirmation in January that the next set of Rajar figures, Q4 1995, are expected to show a drop in weekly reach, the release of these figures,(scheduled for this Friday, 9th February) is now to be delayed until mid-March.

The new diary format for respondents means that virtually all services, both national and local will report an absolute drop in weekly reach; for each service there is a corresponding reduction in those listeners who listen for a short period of time. However, many but not all services show a similar audience share and a similar daily reach to the previous system.

The problem with the Q4 1995 data comes from a failure by respondents to stick in sufficient labels; this has been rectified for the Q1 1996 data, and Rajar expects this will pick up more of the light listeners. To rectify this, the Q4 1995 data will in fact be modelled using data from Q2 to add back the lighter listeners.

No exact date for the delayed data release is yet available.
