TV Overnights: New I’m a Celeb starts on a high of 10.8m

ITV1’s new I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! started on a high last night. TOWIE’s Mark Wright joined fellow celebs as they entered the jungle in front of a peak audience of 10.8 million viewers.

The first episode of this year’s series, which also features Freddie Star and Stefanie Powers, pulled in more than 10.2 million average viewers and a 38% share between 9pm and 10.30pm.

It followed The X Factor Results Show, which attracted more than 12.2 million peak viewers and a 37.7% average audience share between 8pm and 9pm.

However, BBC One dominated most of Sunday’s ratings. The channel’s Remembrance Sunday coverage secured over 4.1 million average viewers and a 40.1% share, while Formula One raced away with 4.5 million average viewers and a 36.3% share.

In the evening slot, Strictly Come Dancing banked the highest ratings for BBC One – peaking with more than 11 million viewers just before ITV1’s run.

On Saturday, The X Factor led the prime time ratings, peaking with more than 10.5 million viewers at 9pm. However, BBC One’s Strictly banked an impressive 11.5 million viewers in the pre-watershed slot. The popular dancing show boasted an average audience of 10.2 million viewers and a 40.7% share between 7pm and 8pm.

ITV1’s football coverage of the England v Spain match scored a high of 6.9 million viewers, while the rest of the daytime ratings went to BBC One’s sporting line-up, which included the Formula One qualifier and British Championship Boxing.
