Cable and Wireless Sees Profits Rise

Cable & Wireless Communications’ interim results announced today report an increase in profit before tax of 103% to £65m (before non-recurring items, year on year). Operating profit also increased by 62% to £123m. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 23% to £333m. Earnings per share reached 4.4p, up from 2.1p year on year.

C&W sealed a partnership with BSkyB last week to co-operate on the launch of digital TV next year (subscribers see BSkyB And Cable And Wireless Join Forces). C&W’s chief executive Graham Wallace also describes the company’s ‘What can we do for you?’ brand launch as “very successful”.
