Cathy Lowe has been appointed as New PHD’s head of radio, after the position had been vacant for almost eight months. Lowe joined this week after a year out of the industry and will report to Morag Blazey, one of New PHD’s media directors.
…D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles has poached one of Saatchi & Saatchi’s media directors, Ron Mudge. Mudge will fill the position of communications director at DMB&B, although there is no official start date.
…Andy Cooper, editor of Northcliffe’s Brentwood Gazette Series in Essex, has been appointed editor of the group’s three weekly titles in North Devon – the North Devon Journal, the Tiverton Gazette and Wellington Weekly News.
…Lee Collins is to fill Helen Sawyer’s position as head of regional media when she leaves CIA Medianetwork for her previous employers Mediaforce. Collins is currently a group head a CIA Medianetwork.
…Current deputy managing director of BDDP GGT, Stephen Whyte, is to move to Leo Burnett next January. He will work alongside Burnett’s chief executive Nick Brien who describes Whyte as “very strong”. Whyte denies that his move has anything to do with the BDDP and GGT merger last month (subscribers see GGT Agencies Merge).
…Geoff Wicken, marketing director of WPP’s research subsidiary BMRB, has been promoted to president and chief executive officer of the US media research group, Simmons Market Research Bureau. This promotion is effective immediately.
