Despite the good increases in sales during September, readership fell year on year for all but four national newspapers during the same month.

Only the two Telegraph titles along with the Daily Mail and Guardian showed increases. The Sunday Telegraph boosted its readership by 16.7% to 2.392 million with the help of its subscription scheme while the Guardian increased by 9.3% to 1.323 million.

The largest losses were felt by the broadsheets: the Independent dropped 19.1% to the Independent On Sunday fell 7.9% while the FT slumped 12.2%.
