IRTC Receives 33 Expressions Of Interest In Community Radio

Following its September request for parties wishing to develop community radio (subscribers see IRTC Seeks Expressions Of Interest In Irish Community Radio), the IRTC has received 33 expressions of interest for the licences. Of the 33 submissions 24 are for community licences and 9 are for community of interest licences. Seven submissions have also been made for the special interest licence for the Dublin area.

The formal process of allocating the frequencies is expected to commence in late November with the licences being awarded late next Spring.
