Good Results At Bristol United Press
Bristol United Press has announced pre-tax profits of £6.9 million for the six months to September, up from £4.2m last year. Turnover grew from £31.2m to £33.8m.
BUP said the increases were due to a growth of 13% in ad revenue, with recruitment ads doing particularly well, and favourable newsprint prices. However, chairman James Evans said that it would be a “major challenge” for the regional newspaper industry to maintain and grow circulations. The group’s Bristol Evening Postand Western Daily Press titles experienced drops in sales in the January-June ABC figures.
Overall the BUP board considers the prospects for the group in the second half of the year to be good.
