James Murdoch has stepped down as executive chairman of News International. However, he will remain as deputy chief operating officer of parent group News Corporation.

The move comes amid the ongoing phone-hacking scandal, which saw the company close its News of the World title in July last year.

His decision also comes just days after Rupert Murdoch launched a Sunday edition of The Sun. Read Paper Boy’s sales estimates here.
